Helen is passionate about trauma-informed practice and currently works with statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations offering consultation and facilitating development activities that provide a safe reflective space for practitioners to gain insight and develop their skills to deliver excellent practice. Recently this has included facilitating trauma-informed supervision training; a skills development programme for local authority social care and social work managers and training for children’s residential care providers. Helen continues to develop social work students as a Practice Educator.
Since early in her career Helen has been passionate about therapeutic approaches that can enhance social work practice; and utilises these ideas to develop professionals’ understanding of, connection to, and intervention with the children and adults they support through her training.
Helen has completed the Diploma in Therapeutic Life Story Work and works as a Therapeutic Life Story Practitioner supporting young people to make sense of who they are and what happened to them.
