This course will consider the impact of trauma and attachment issues on development.
Delivered by: Angela Gregg
This training day is aimed at all those who would like to undertake a therapeutic parenting approach, for parents/carers who may find parenting a hurt child challenging and exhausting.
It is based on Angela’s successful approaches with families who are seeking support and guidance in parenting, but also those who have been traumatised through opening their hearts to the outcome of trauma. Ideal for those who work with children and young people, but also for adoption, fostering and kinship support workers and carers in need of tools and innovative approaches.
This course will consider the impact of trauma and attachment issues on development; by using narrative, the notions of sense of self and finally the concepts of shame and blame. Once established, the course moves to the concept of therapeutic parenting, considering parenting styles, mindfulness and the importance of a PACE approach.
The day then moves to the essential need for self-care and reflection; with emphasis on blocked care, vicarious trauma, burn out and self and family regulation.

This course will be a 5 – day programme for all those who are providing care for a child or adolescent who has been impacted by early life trauma.
An underlying principle of therapeutic life story work is to help a child to understand and process their life histories and the decisions made about them.
